Q.2. Write an account of the differences which exist between algae and fungi with regard to the mode of their nutrition.

            The process of nutrition in algae resemble to those of ordinary green plants. They are the autophytic thallophytes (autotrophic) that is, they are able to build up their own food out of inorganic material, such as carbon dioxide, water and simple mineral substance by a process called photosynthesis.

ALGAE

            The algae is a group of chlorophyll-bearing thallophytes. These possess unicellular sex organs or multicellular one is which every cell forms a gamete. The branch of botany dealing with study of algae is known Phycology. 

            According to Lee 1980, Algae may be defined as thallophytes that have chlorophyll and that lack a sterile covering of cells around the reproductive cells.
